Employability
We’re really excited to launch our newest initiative—MACS Employability!
We know that finding work can be tough for anyone, but having a visual impairment can bring a few extra challenges. So, whether your barriers are directly related to your MACS condition or not, we want to help.
The scheme is person-centred and designed to be as flexible as possible. There’s a budget available per applicant, and we’re encouraging you to put together your dream wishlist of anything that might help you move toward employment. That could include:
-
Support with training
-
Help accessing the community
-
Being paired with a mentor who has similar experiences or works in your chosen field
-
Assistance getting work experience
-
Equipment to help with job searching or writing a CV
Even if you have no idea where to start—that’s okay too. We’ll work together to create a plan that suits you. While the budget isn’t unlimited, the ideas can be, so whether it’s free or pricey, put it down and we’ll see what we can do.
Who’s eligible?
Anyone with a MACS condition, aged 18 or over, who is not in full-time education and is either actively looking for work or thinking about starting the journey. (We can’t fund anything that would be provided through Access to Work or your education provider.)
