Congratulations to our Funderaiser of the Month in December - Stacey Stanley!
Many congratulations to our Fundraiser of the Month in December, Stacey Stanley! Stacey is a keen crafter and came up with an idea of a Christmas wreath making workshop, which turned out to be hugely popular amongst fellow mums, raising an incredible £400 in just three days! We caught up with Stacey to find out more.
Congratulations Stacey, what a fantastic idea! Could you tell us how you came up with this idea and how you planned it?
I’ve always been creative and in my job as a visual merchandiser I often run Christmas workshops so I decided to run one myself at home! The most obvious one for this time of year is a wreath making class. I work at a garden centre so they kindly donated some of the equipment and supplies I knew I’d need to run the workshop. I wanted to raise as much as possible while still making it affordable for people to attend so this helped massively.
I didn’t think I’d get as much interest as I did, but I was blown away with the response and I had 19 people attend! They were all mums from my daughter’s class and I think they loved having the opportunity to get together for a fun evening and create a beautiful handmade wreath over a glass or two of mulled wine.
That’s fantastic. How did it all go on the day?
I managed to raise £400 over three nights! This worked well as I wouldn’t have been able to fit everyone in at once and keeping it over three consecutive nights, it meant that the foliage, moss etc was fresh and looking its best.
I was really pleased with the response from everyone that came along to the workshops, they really enjoyed it and it was lovely to give them a little more information about MACS and what you do to help the families you work with.
Thank you for sharing the lovely photos, it’s great to see so many smiling faces. What did the participants say about your workshops?
I got some great feedback from some of the mums that came along!
"Stacey, I had such a great time at the wreath making workshop - I'm in love with my new Christmas creation! You were such a great teacher & help through the evening. So pleased to be able to help support this great charity too"
“The wreath making was brilliant, I had such an amazing time, it was so well organised and a lovely evening for charity. Looking forward to next year!”
“I had a fantastic evening, fantastic company, and Stacey was a brilliant host."
“Thank you Stacey for all your hard work and effort it was truly amazing!”
These were just a few of the comments and feedback I got so as you can see it was a very well received fundraiser!
Congratulations on such a successful activity and lovely feedback! Do you have any advice for other fundraisers?
I would say if you’ve got an idea in mind, just go for it! Don’t hesitate and put yourself out there. I was a little nervous at first because I wondered if anyone would want to come along but it turned out so well.
I also think it helps when people are taking something away with them that they can feel proud of. Good luck!
Thank you for the interview and congratulations once again. We couldn't have found a better fundraiser for this time of the year. Merry Christmas!
