Become a Regional Volunteer
At MACS, we’re always looking for new ways to bring our community closer together. That’s why we’re expanding our Regional Volunteer Programme — because no one knows your area better than you do.
If you’ve ever wondered whether there are other MACS families or individuals living nearby and would love the chance to meet them, this is a great way to start. Our goal is to grow a strong network of volunteers and bring even more people together across the country.
This programme is all about reconnecting our members at a local level, while we continue to offer a full calendar of national events. As a Regional Volunteer, you’ll help plan and host meet-ups in your area — from picnics in the park and MACS soft play parties to theatre touch tours, zoo trips, or fun evenings at the bowling alley. The opportunities are endless — and best of all, you’ll have the full support and funding of the MACS team.
We only require a few hours of training and a DBS check, then you’re good to go!
If you’re unsure whether there’s much demand for local events in your area, take a look at the map our wonderful Sharon has put together here. If you’re a MACS adult and would like help exploring it, Sharon would be happy to talk it through with you — feel free to get in touch!
We understand the map isn’t currently accessible to everyone, and we’re actively working on that. In the meantime, here are some figures that might help build a clearer picture of where our MACS community is based:
| MACS UK Regions | Adults with MACS Conditions | Total Number of Households |
|---|---|---|
| East Midlands | 53 | 50 |
| East of England | 52 | 51 |
| Greater London | 58 | 57 |
| North East | 38 | 37 |
| Northern Ireland | 11 | 11 |
| North West | 75 | 74 |
| Scotland | 31 | 30 |
| South East | 59 | 57 |
| South West | 44 | 41 |
| Wales | 29 | 29 |
| West Midlands | 52 | 51 |
| Total | 502 | 488 |
These numbers are based on the membership details we currently hold. Please note, we don’t have individual contact information for over 300 adults with MACS conditions, and some of our data may be out of date. If you’d like to help us improve this — or simply want to make sure your own details are up to date — you can update your information here or email us at 📧 enquiries@macs.org.uk.
Whether you’re ready to volunteer or just want to find out more, we’d love to hear from you.
