Grants, Trusts and Foundations
Charitable grants are a very valuable source of income for MACS.
They fund important member services that connect families, provide life-changing opportunities and ongoing emotional support to help people affected by MACS conditions feel less isolated and more able to cope with their situation.
Grant funding supports our members services which means that funders will have a direct impact on the lives of people affected by MACS conditions whilst supporting the charity’s fundraising strategy to diversifying income streams for a more robust financial future.
Why partner with MACS?
Thank you for showing an interest in supporting MACS. It’s no secret that grant requests have sky rocketed since the pandemic. We know it must be really hard for funders to choose which charities to support. If you’re reading this page, you’ve taken the first step in wanting to know more about MACS and we know your time is precious so hope the following gives a summary of what sets us apart from other charities.
MACS is the UK's only charity specifically supporting people born with
- Microphthalmia (small, underdeveloped eyes)
- Anophthalmia (no eyes) or
- Coloboma (cleft or gap in the eye structure)

Stewardship
It’s important to us that we keep you connected with the charity and the beneficiaries of your grant. That is why we have a rolling twelve-month stewardship programme (in addition to any specific funding reporting requirements stipulated by the funder). We work with our own 3Rs model.
- Reporting – our programme of activity includes two generic updates (June and December) and your own personal feedback/impact report specific to your grant.
- Responsible – we are able to restrict and ringfence funds with confidence via our accounting software package (Xero) which uses a coding system. We are then audited on the application of this to ensure we comply with requests.
- Responsive – as a small charity, we can action a quick turnaround when needed, ensuring a dynamic approach to responding to changing needs and facilitating timely communication.
